We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, professional School Business Manager to work with the Governors and Senior Leadership Team to play a key role in the strategic management of school operations, with particular focus on Finance, HR and administrative
management.
Hutton is a popular Voluntary Aided Church of England comprehensive school situated near Preston. The school admits boys only from 11-16 with 670 students currently on roll. The school also has a co-educational Sixth Form which offers a broad range of A level courses and currently has 132 students on roll. The school was judged ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted in May
2022 and received a positive report from SIAMS in January 2026 which recognised that “pupils and adults are individually known, nurtured and inspired”.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and ICT skills and extensive knowledge and experience of financial and administrative systems.
The role is full time (37 hours a week) term time plus three weeks and will be paid at Grade
10 (SCP 35-40). The additional three weeks will be worked on school INSET days and at key
points during the school holidays to ensure continuation of financial processing and
preparation for the new academic and financial years. The number of weeks may be
negotiable for the right candidate, however the ability to work some days during the school
holidays is an essential requirement. The point at which the successful candidate will be paid
will be dependent on their previous experience.
