We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and empathetic Healthcare Assistant to join our Medical Wing team working 1 day per week (7.30am to 6.00pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break, equating to 10 hours per week).
Working collaboratively with the Senior Nurse and Nurses, the Healthcare Assistant will administer first aid and assist with patient care, including simple clinical procedures. The role also includes keeping and updating computerised and paper records appropriately, assisting with dispensing medications under the direction of the Senior Nurse, in line with the school medication protocols.
Applicants must be a team player, empathetic, approachable, an excellent communicator, well organised and demonstrate initiative with a good sense of humour. Essential to the role is a high level of confidentiality and integrity. Experience of working with young people in a pastoral or medical setting would be an advantage but is not a requirement as full training and support is available to the successful candidate.
Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for just around 540 pupils aged 11 to 18. There has been a co-educational Sixth Form since 1998 and since September 2023 girls have been welcomed into Year 7 as the College becomes fully co-educational.
