Westbury Infant School – WIS – “Where Infants Shine” - Could you shine here too?

We are looking to appoint a School Business Manager who will lead and manage all non-teaching functions of the school, this includes staff across a number of teams i.e. admin, cleaning, site staff, catering, MDSAs plus the management of our outsourced wraparound care provision.  The SBM carries out most of the day to day finance tasks for the school and also works closely with the Headteacher to support confidential staffing matters.  There is also a requirement to attend five business related Governor meetings, these are often conducted online. 

This post would suit an experienced SBM who is looking for a new challenge or maybe a very experienced School Finance Officer who is ready to take the next step into a SBM role.

Here at WIS we have a happy and committed team, we are very well resourced and our classrooms are bright and airy.  We have 210 children on roll, this includes 15 children in our specialist Resource Base.  There are approximately 50 staff across all teams at WIS; we employ all our own staff (apart from wraparound care staff) and we have a strong office team comprising a School Business Manager, an Admin Officer and an Admin Assistant. 

We were inspected by OFSTED in November 2022 and we are delighted to say that our school continues to be a good school.

We are looking for someone:

  • who has recent school finance experience, including budget setting
  • who has recent HR/payroll experience in schools
  • who does or has recently maintained a school’s Single Central Record
  • who has good Health & Safety and site management knowledge/experience, preferably in a school setting
  • who is a strong leader and has good people management skills
  • who is reflective, resilient, adaptable and very good at juggling priorities
  • who is a team player, is loyal and hard working
  • who is keen to work collaboratively with other schools
  • who is committed to ongoing professional development
  • who is keen to further their experience

Pay details:                         Wiltshire Council Grade I from £30,151 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience

Hours of work:                   35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Working weeks:                 40 weeks per year i.e. Term time plus 5 INSET days plus 5 days in the holidays           

Contract type:                     Permanent

Closing date (and time):   Monday 30th January 2023 at 9  a.m.

Interview date:                   Monday 6th February 2023

Commencement date:      Monday 17th April 2023 or as soon as possible afterwards
