The Governors of Shakespeare Primary School are seeking to appoint a full time School Business Manager who will have overall responsibility for the efficient and secure administration of the school's finance and administrative processes on a day to day basis reporting to the school Head Teacher.   The ideal applicant will be an experienced practitioner who has both the vitality and vision to take up the reigns and join the senior leadership team in ensuring the continued successful future for the school and all its stakeholders.  This is a fantastic opportunity in a larger than average two form entry community primary school.  For further information please see advert on Lancashire County Council's vacancy page via the link below.

Shakespeare Primary School are looking for a School Business Manager who:

  • is a skilled practitioner with a minimum of 2 years experience of managing significant financial resources in a senior administrative role in a school setting 
  • is innovative and forward thinking with regards to finance and administration, linking this to school improvement through clear communication
  • has a can do attitude and strong inter-personal skills 
  • enjoys the challenge of working in a busy, dynamic and diverse environment
  • has high levels of literacy and numeracy skills and confident in using new technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness


Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Finance budget preparation and reporting
  • Premises and facilities management including project development, lettings and liaison with external contractors
  • Overseeing all administration pertaining to the school
  • Human resource administration including line management of office, welfare and site staff
  • Health & Safety management of the school
  • Income generation including preparation and submission of bids for external funding
  • Policy development in line with Local Authority advice
  • Development and discharge of the School's marketing strategy
