About WSAPC

West Sussex Alternative Provision College (WSAPC) is an educational establishment based across the county on seven separate sites. We provide education to young people who are not accessing mainstream education. We aim to provide a caring and positive environment where all are valued and supported through a personalised curriculum which challenges and inspires individuals to achieve their potential.

The College is rated as ‘Good’ following a recent Ofsted visit in March 2018 and our focus now, is to move from Good to Outstanding.

What we are looking for

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Art Teacher for maternity cover at our Burgess Hill Centre

We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing outstanding lessons for young people who may present with challenging behaviour. You will possess a good understanding of pupils with complex needs and display the confidence needed to work with pupil’s who experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

You will be responsible for;

  • Planning, preparing and delivering high quality
  • Tutoring a small group of up to 8 students,
  • The effective management of a Teaching Assistant in the classroom, which you will have regular support
  • Delivering Art based enrichment sessions which allow students to enjoy Art outside of the prescribed
  • Deliver GCSE Art to students, including the marking, and standardization processes that sit alongside delivering the qualification
  • Regularly differentiating for students with complex needs, EHCPs, with challenging behaviour and different starting

The successful candidate will:

  • Have relevant experience with Special Educational Needs, preferably
  • Experience of leading Art lessons up to KS4
  • Relevant and recent professional development conducive to the
  • Experience of contributing to successful Ofsted outcomes
  • Be an outstanding practitioner who inspires our students &
  • Be creative in designing, upholding & delivering a rigorous, academic
  • Believe that every student can & will
  • Be flexible, strategic & resilient with an ability to work collaboratively with other specialist agencies and contribute towards the continued development of WSAPC
  • Have the highest ambitions for our students, the College &
  • Have excellent organisational & ICT
  • Have an enthusiasm for Art & the ability to share this with
  • Have excellent subject
  • Achieve outstanding student
  • Possess the skills & determination to make a significant difference to the lives of the community we
  • The flexibility to deliver another subject is desirable but not essential
