Ashleigh Church of England Primary School is a member of Ventrus, a group of Devon schools who actively collaborate to improve children's outcomes. As a Trust, we offer excellent career and development opportunities.

Ashleigh is looking to recruit a skilled and dedicated teacher to take up a class teacher role in either key stage 1 or 2. This is a full-time, permanent position working 1.0 FTE, 39 weeks per year as of September 2021. Ashleigh is a friendly and supportive school which serves a rewarding catchment. Our children are wonderful to work with, are deeply compassionate and have a deep desire to learn. We are proud of our values led approach and we use these values to underpin all of our school improvement work such as our developing curriculum and our rewards systems. Staff are incredibly supportive of each other and there is a strong collegiate approach across the school.

Our vision statement of ‘Learning to Love; Loving to Learn – Life in all its Fullness’ represents our aim that all members of the Ashleigh community, whether they are children, staff, parents or carers, can develop and flourish. The SIAMs inspection of January 2020 captured what we are about when the inspector said that ‘lives are being transformed here.’ Continuing professional development and an evidence informed approach to practice is at the heart of what we do; we are well supported in this regard by Ventrus, a Multi Academy Trust consisting of schools from across Devon which enables us to access best practice networks from many local and regional schools.

Our ideal candidates will:

  • Have a proven track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the primary curriculum;
  • Have a positive attitude, energy and drive;
  • Be an inclusive practitioner, with a commitment to meeting the needs of all groups of learners;
  • Be a reflective practitioner who has a commitment to working with colleagues to improve practice and outcomes for children and demonstrate a willingness to join in with the life of the school and its community;
  • Be a good communicator and build effective relationships with our children and their families;
  • Have excellent classroom management skills;
  • Have a strong personal philosophy for teaching that is evident within their own classroom practice.

 To apply for this role please submit your application online; your supporting statement should outline your suitability for the post.

We would welcome visits or informal conversations with the Headteacher, Mr Chris Greenhall. If you would like either, please contact the office on 01271 345149 or ashleigh@ventrus.org.uk.

Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday 18th May 2021. Interviews for this post will be on Thursday 20th May 2021.
