Maiden Erlegh School is a high-achieving, over-subscribed secondary school which is as committed to the welfare of students and staff, as it is our high standards. We are now looking for a teacher of Food Technology to join our talented and committed department.

The Design and Technology Department consists of D&T, Food Preparation & Nutrition and Health & Social Care. The food curriculum is well structured across KS3 and KS4 to include a range of dishes, skills and experiences for our students. Teachers are given the flexibility to adapt lessons to suit classes. Schemes of work and resources are reviewed each academic year and amended accordingly. At both KS3 and KS4 students develop the skills in food preparation and cook high quality dishes. There are two bright and spacious food rooms and a department ICT suite, supported by two dedicated technicians. Extracurricular activities are an important part of food, with house competitions such as the house bake off

Our students are a delight to work with and relationships between students and staff are extremely positive and constructive. Students are keen to learn, curious, respectful, polite and fun. They rise to challenges positively and enthusiastically, and have high expectations of themselves. This is why they achieve such impressive academic and personal successes.

Our staff are dedicated, talented professionals who go the extra mile for the students because they are committed to helping them realise their dreams, achieve the greatest possible success and overcome any personal challenges.

Our expectations are unapologetically high and, as a result of a varied and enriching curriculum as well as the on-going celebration of personal achievements and talents, students develop a raft of leadership and personal skills. It is a real pleasure to spend time with our students and to see them grow and develop into confident well-rounded and engaging young adults and positive and respectful citizens.

Professional development is a strength here, thanks to our Teaching School. We offer a flexible CPD programme which staff can tailor to their own needs which includes coaching and training for new entrants to the profession and to support career returners. We are very happy to discuss flexible working arrangements including part-time working and job-sharing.

We welcome visits to our school but if you would like to have an informal telephone call with our Head of Department, please email recruitment@maidenerleghtrust.org.

The Trust reserves the right to interview and appoint before the closing date.

Maiden Erlegh Trust is an Ethical Leadership Pathfinder organisation and we are committed to safeguarding, equality and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We are also committed to having the highest expectations of pupil/students and staff, and supporting everyone to reach their full potential. All employees of the school and Trust are expected to share these commitments. All posts require satisfactory employment checks and references and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. All Leadership roles will require a Section 128 check
