Information from the Chief Executive Officer

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the post of Chief Financial Officer. This role has become available following the retirement of two our key part-time personnel; the Trust Business Manager and Somers Park School Business Manager. The role will provide business and financial leadership to the Trust and provide additional support & focus to one of our MET schools (to be determined). We are keen to commence this position from 1st September 2021, with opportunities for familiarisation and liaison during July. We would consider an earlier start to the role (July / August) should the opportunity and benefit present itself.

Mercian Educational Trust is a Multi Academy Trust based in Worcestershire. Within the MET family there are 4 primary schools upon 5 school sites; Dines Green Academy, Great Malvern Primary, Northleigh CE Primary and Somers Park Primary; the latter being a multi-site school which also hosts the Trust Central Offices.

The Trust Central Team offers a wide range of support to schools that both Trust and non-Trust schools access. Support Services offered to all Schools include:

Education Welfare – Helping pupils engagement with school, raising attendance through expert support.
Education Psychology – Providing support and advice to schools so that all pupils needs are met.
School-2-School Support – A service providing support and advice for Teaching & Learning, School Leadership, access to grants and incentives.

In addition, Trust schools also benefit from support with:
Health & Safety

The successful candidate will help lead our organisation onto greater achievements. The Trust has the potential and desire for development and growth. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) must be a qualified accountant with experience of leading a financial function for a large organisation with robust compliance and regulatory requirements. The CFO’s key duties will also include managing projects, promoting the effective use of resources and promoting highest standards of business. They will ensure that the MAT has sound and appropriate financial governance and risk management arrangements with active contribution to governance at all levels. The Chief Financial Officer can expect to be well supported by the Executive Team and the Trust Board.

I hope this pack will encourage you to find out more about Mercian Educational Trust. I would also encourage you to get in touch should you have any questions or wish to find out more about the Trust or aspect of this exciting opportunity.
