Closing Date 24/04/2019

Buncer Lane
Lancashire BB2 6TD
NOR: 1230

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new faculty at Witton Park Academy. Our intent is that through the quality of our curriculum, we grow young people who are able to become autonomous thinkers, resilient to challenges, determined, and experienced in the best of what has been thought and written.

We are looking for a creative thinker who is an energetic and a dedicated teacher, who will engage, enthuse and challenge students to achieve their very best in Social Sciences. You must possess the skills and determination to bring out the best from students by making a significant contribution to our school community.

In return, we offer:

- A Senior Leadership Team who are committed to growth as part of the AtC Trust

- A faculty determined to create a quality curriculum offer.

- Staff who are united in their aspiration to move the school forward

- A commitment to professional development opportunities for all staff, with specialist CPD for this particular role

You will have excellent subject knowledge and be well-informed on current educational developments and initiatives. You will work within a curriculum area that has significant strength both within GCSE Ethics and AS Level Ethics outcomes, and also quality of teaching of core RE and British Values at Key Stage 3.  Our strength in this area has led to us becoming a Beacon School for Holocaust Education in partnership with University College London.

We have extended our provision within the Ethics/RE area to encompass a Resilience based curriculum that will develop pupils’ mental health through DBT (Dialectical behaviour therapy).  This therapy will be critical in ensuring our pupils are fully prepared for future life.  Full training will be given to enable you to teach this aspect of the curriculum.

The diverse curriculum offer at Witton Park supports a high uptake for EBacc subjects and option subjects.  Outcomes for pupils in 2016 were judged to be good by Ofsted.  We are now likely to be judged outstanding for progress with a progress 8 score of +0.24 in 2016 and a further significant increase to +0.45 in 2017.  The Ofsted report and website will give you a flavour for other aspects of the school.

We welcome any requests from candidates wishing to visit the Academy. Please contact us on 01254 264551 or by email at info@wittonpark.org.uk if you would like this opportunity.

Closing date: Wednesday 24th April at 3.00pm.  Interviews to take place on Wednesday 1st May 2019.

Witton Park Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. References will be taken up for all shortlisted candidates and appointments will be subject to satisfactory DBS and Employment checks.
