PASTORAL MANAGER

Responsible to: PRINCIPAL

To deal with attendance, behavioural, pastoral and welfare issues and be responsible for the induction of new arrivals. To support and work with pupils and families to maximise learning for individual pupils.  

Work closely with the Principal, Leadership Team and colleagues in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils and supporting vulnerable children in school.

Main Duties and Activities

·         Re-integrating students who have been excluded or integrating students who are new to the school.

·         Support the DSL in ensuring the welfare and safety of all students.

·         Work with the children and parents to remove external barriers to learning.

·         Manage the agreed behaviour system, ensuring that all rewards and sanctions are effectively carried out where necessary.

·         To liaise with teaching staff, pupils and parents to provide particular support to targeted underperforming pupils in receipt of free school meals, in order to raise achievement and help them minimise/overcome barriers to learning.

·         To mentor, counsel and support pupils as appropriate.

·         To be aware of and undertake activities, to assist in monitoring the academic progress and personal, social and emotional needs of pupils.

·         To contribute to the school’s strategy to improve the attendance and punctuality of pupils in receipt of free school meals.

·         Support children in developing emotional resilience and emotional literacy.

·         To provide a good role model for students and promote positive behaviour throughout the school.

·         To undertake investigations into reported misbehaviour/incidents and implement sanctions according to school policy.

·         Where necessary, begin the Early Help Assessment process.

·         To line manage the school’s pastoral team, including setting performance management targets and ensuring optimum levels of challenge and support.

·         To contribute to the recording, investigation and monitoring of bullying.

·         To maintain accurate, confidential and up to date documentation on all cases of safeguarding and child protection.

·         Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the Headteacher to reflect the changing needs of the school and the demands and requirements of the agreed curriculum.

·         To be responsible for health and safety of self and others and adhere to the school health and safety policy and procedures.

·         Model our Christian ethos demonstrating grace, love and fellowship to children and their families, fellow staff and visiting members of the community.
