Job title: Class Teacher Salary

MPS / UPS Responsible to: Phase Leader

Job Purpose To deliver high quality teaching and learning to pupils assigned Main Responsibilities

The duties listed below are not an exhaustive list of what is required.

● Be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning of all pupils assigned to him/her

● Be accountable to the Deputy Headteacher for achievement, wellbeing and health and safety of children in his/her care

● Supervise the work of any support staff, including teaching assistants, teaching partners, support teachers and student teachers, who are assigned to work with him/her

● Take responsibility for his/her professional development by willing to undergo relevant training that meets with their needs and their priorities of the school

● Support initiatives decided by the Headteacher and staff

● Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils through differentiation of task

● Be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils’ learning

● Provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils

● Keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning

● Report to parents on the development , progress and attainment of pupils

● Maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the schools behaviour policy

● Participate in meetings which relate to the schools management, curriculum,, administration or organisation

● Communicate and cooperate with specialists from outside agencies

● Participate in the performance management system, for the appraisal of their own performance

● Take responsibility for their own health and safety in line with all schools health and safety policies

Teachers on UPS

In addition teachers in upper pay range are expected to make particular contribution to building team commitment in line with the statutory requirement to meet threshold standards.

In particular, teachers on UPR will: · Provide a role model for professional practice · Make a distinct contribution compared with other teachers · Contribute effectively to the wider team

General Responsibilities

You will be expected to carry out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document currently in operation, or any subsequent legislation. In addition, taking appropriate responsibility for one’s own health, safety and welfare and the health and safety of pupils, visitors and work colleagues in accordance with the requirements of legislation and locally-adopted policies; including taking responsibility for raising concerns with an appropriate manager. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary with discussion.
