(EAL/Literacy)
12 hours a week over two days term time only

Required as soon as possible

St Thomas Aquinas is a large and thriving 11-18 Catholic comprehensive school where staff and students from all faiths live out the school mission and every member of the community feels valued and engaged. In 2011 the school was judged to be Outstanding by OFSTED.

The School requires an enthusiastic, experienced and hardworking EAL Learning Mentor to join the Learning Support Team as soon as possible.

It is an exciting time to join St Thomas Aquinas School as we became part of the Lumen Christi Catholic Multi Academy on the 1 April 2015. This links us with five of our Catholic Primary Feeder Schools and brings real opportunities for collaborative teaching and learning.

The Governors are looking for a suitably qualified person to take on the role of Learning Mentor.  The successful candidate will work with individual or small groups of EAL/Literacy students to promote their inclusion and to provide support for teaching and personalised learning.  It is essential that the person appointed understands the barriers to learning and is able to help students to overcome them.  The successful candidate will liaise with a wide range of staff and will monitor students closely to ensure they make good progress.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right person to work in a curriculum area with a highly committed staff in a large and popular Catholic secondary school.

St Thomas Aquinas is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role”

Closing date Monday 29 January 2018 at 9.00 a.m.
