An exciting opportunity has become available for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Bartholomew School, Eynsham.

Contracted hours will be 25 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week cleaning duties, working from O9:00 to 14:30, with an 08:00 start to 13:30 finish during the examination season, and will be remunerated at £7.90 per hour.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a quality catering service in line with health, safety and hygiene requirements

  • Preparation of food for sale

  • Working on a team rotation that has 4 zones

  • Compliance with food safely hygiene and health & safety procedures


Required skills:

  • Ability to organise time and prioritise activities

  • Ability to work in, at times, a pressured environment

  • Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual 

  • The successful applicant will also have good communication skills and be able and confident to interact with all members of the school community


Desirable knowledge & experience:

  • Previous experience in a food handling environment with knowledge of basic food safety.   However, full training will be given.                      

  • A working knowledge of Health & safety procedures including the control of substances harmful to health (COSHH)

  • Level 2 food safety certificate. (Can be obtained as part of in-house training.)

  • Previous catering experience and safe use of knives & kitchen equipment would be beneficial
